How does closing donation centers impact donor behaviour?

- Donors whose nearest donation centre closed were 53% more likely to lapse compared to those who lived near blood donation centres that remained open. For each additional kilometre of travel distance, the risk of lapse steadily increased.

- Changing the opening times? The percentage of donors who lapsed increased as the number of opening days decreased

- Compared to other blood groups O-negative donors were 10.5% less likely to lapse after the closure of a neighbouring donation centre.
