Solicitations for donations are a highly effective tool that many organizations use to elicit donations of blood, time, or money. In their study "Did you donate? Talking about donations predicts compliance with solicitations for donations" Joris, Eva, Bianca and Pamala found some interesting results.
For example, in the Netherlands, blood donors who talk more about blood donations are much more likely to comply with solicitations for donations (come to donate after a request). This association is particularly strong for novice donors.
If you work for a blood bank one thing that you could do to increase the effectiveness of your solicitations is to increase communication about donations among your donors.
